The Complete Men's Jacket
Size Guide
Everything you need to find a jacket that fits with the precision and confidence of a man who knows exactly what he's wearing — and why.
A perfectly fitted jacket — the cornerstone of a distinguished wardrobe
Why Jacket Fit Is Everything
Off-the-rack jackets are cut to fit a statistical average — which means they rarely fit any individual perfectly. A jacket that pulls across the back, gaps at the collar, or swamps the shoulders undermines even the finest fabric. Fit is the first luxury.
Our made-to-measure service eliminates this compromise entirely. Every jacket we craft is built around your exact measurements, your posture, and your preferred silhouette — ensuring a result that feels as good as it looks.
How to Take Your Measurements
Use a soft fabric measuring tape and, where possible, have a second person assist you. Always measure over a well-fitted shirt and keep the tape snug but not tight.
Professional measurement — the foundation of a great fit
Chest
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits. Keep it level and parallel to the floor.
Waist
Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest point of your torso, typically an inch or two above your navel.
Shoulders
Measure from the edge of one shoulder across the back to the other. The hardest measurement to alter — get it right.
Sleeve Length
From the top of your shoulder down to your wrist bone, arm slightly bent. Allow ½ inch of shirt cuff to show.
Hips / Seat
Around the widest part of your hips, approximately 8 inches below your natural waist. Critical for longer jackets.
Jacket Length
From the top of your shoulder down your back to where you'd like the jacket to end. The hem should cover your seat.
The Five Hallmarks of a Perfect Shoulder Fit
The shoulder is the single most important fit point on any jacket — and the hardest to alter. Getting it right from the start is non-negotiable.
The shoulder seam should sit precisely at the natural shoulder edge
The shoulder seam sits exactly at the edge of your shoulder — not hanging over your arm, not pulling inward.
No dimples or divots at the top of the sleeve head. These indicate the sleeve is too narrow or the shoulder too wide.
The jacket collar lies flat against your shirt collar with no gap — a gap signals the back is too long or the collar is cut incorrectly.
When buttoned, the lapels roll naturally and the chest lies flat without pulling or gaping at the button stance.
The back is smooth and free of horizontal creases (too tight) or vertical folds (too loose).
Sleeve Length & the Shirt Cuff Rule
The ½-inch shirt cuff reveal — a hallmark of impeccable tailoring
"Your shirt cuff should peek out approximately ½ inch below the jacket sleeve. This small detail signals intentionality and polish."
When standing with your arms relaxed at your sides, the jacket sleeve should end at the base of your wrist — right where your hand begins. Too short, and the jacket looks undersized. Too long, and it reads as borrowed.
On our made-to-measure jackets, sleeve length is set to your exact specification. We also offer working (surgeon's) cuffs as a standard feature — a mark of true bespoke craftsmanship.

Common Fit Problems & How We Solve Them
Even with careful measurement, certain fit challenges arise from individual body proportions. Here's how our made-to-measure process addresses the most common issues.
Caused by a forward head posture or a high back. We adjust the back neck point and collar stand to eliminate the gap entirely.
Indicates the back width or chest is too narrow. We add ease across the upper back and adjust the side seams accordingly.
Common in off-the-rack jackets for athletic builds. We suppress the waist seams to follow your natural contour.
A natural asymmetry most people have. We build a shoulder pad or canvas adjustment to compensate, so the jacket hangs level.
Caused by the pitch of the sleeve head not matching your arm's natural hang. We re-pitch the sleeve during the fitting process.
Made-to-Measure vs. Off-the-Rack
Off-the-rack jackets are engineered for volume — they must fit the broadest possible range of bodies with the fewest possible patterns. The result is a series of compromises.
Our made-to-measure service begins with your measurements and ends with a jacket built for you alone. You choose the fabric from our curated library of over 500 premium cloths, select your lining, buttons, lapel style, and pocket configuration — and we construct the jacket to your exact specifications, with free alterations included.
